This year’s FNQ Volleyball Schools Cup was held in week one of term four. Our Freshwater Falcons teams excelled, with all three teams showing great skill and teamwork on the court against schools from all around our region. Our Senior Boys team won all but one game throughout the day to finish fifth out of the thirteen schools. An incredible individual achievement for this team was from Ben Steel, who was voted the ‘Most Valuable Player’ of the Senior Boys competition! May 17th – 19th marked the Great Wheelbarrow Race 2019, and as per annual tradition, the FCC Roadrunner team was revved and ready to run.
After months of physical training and preparation, our team of ten eager grade 12 students made their way to Mareeba to begin the three-day challenge of running with a wheelbarrow across vast expanses of scorching dirt and gravel roads.

The 2018 Inter-house Athletics Carnival saw an array of talent on display with students from Years Three to Twelve taking to the track to test their abilities in a day of great competition and fun.
The day started with each house giving their best war cries to charge the athletes out to the first events. There was some fantastic house spirit shown by the students, with the Crocs, Barras and Sharks in full colour and costume with some very interesting outfits being displayed inline with this years ‘retro’ theme. Harrison Plasto is representing Australia, as goal-keeper, for the Australian national U11 futsal team at the USA National Futsal Championships. The 31st U.S. Futsal National Championship will be held in San Jose, California, at the San Jose Convention Centre between July 14 – 17, 2016. In conjunction with U.S. Futsal’s 35th. Anniversary and the 8th Pacific Cup of Nations.
Last year at the local school titles in Cairns, Harrison was selected to represent FNQ at the national school titles in Brisbane. A large number of teams from around the country competed at various futsal venues in Brisbane and culminated at a presentation night at Dreamworld. Congratulations to Troy Delgado who will be representing the Peninsula Region at the Queensland School Sports 12&U Tennis State Championships on 04-07 August 2016 at Tennyson, Brisbane.
Troy started playing tennis when he was ten years old and was observed to be a gifted tennis player by his coach. This was evident when he started winning in tournaments as soon as he joined. To date, he has accumulated 15 trophies and has an equally impressive Australian tennis ranking for his age.
