    Athletics Carnival a great success

The 2018 Inter-house Athletics Carnival saw an array of talent on display with students from Years Three to Twelve taking to the track to test their abilities in a day of great competition and fun.

The day started with each house giving their best war cries to charge the athletes out to the first events. There was some fantastic house spirit shown by the students, with the Crocs, Barras and Sharks in full colour and costume with some very interesting outfits being displayed inline with this years ‘retro’ theme.  On the track, there were some impressive times recorded with some of the newest Freshwater students displaying some excellent form.

When all of the individual events were decided, students teamed up in the relay and novelty events with triple points on offer for each race.  In the primary school, it was the Douglas Barras who were victorious with the Sharks in second.  For the senior’s, the Frangos Sharks took out the day over the Fuller Crocs, continuing a great resurgence for the ‘gold’ house in recent years.  Aside from the action out on the field, there was a wonderful carnival atmosphere, with students groovin’ to the retro soundtrack and cheering on their houses.

The competition was strong this year but always in great spirit, showing once again that our ‘Freshy’ kids really are awesome in every way.

I really look forward to taking some strong teams away to the Inter-School Track and Field carnival in Term 3 and seeing how far our kids can excel.

    Let’s keep flying high Freshwater.
