Discover our Primary School
I’m confident in having my kids at Freshwater Christian College because I know that it’s a beautiful environment and because my kids are loved and nurtured and their individuality is respected.
More Than Just Primary School
Students who attend Freshwater Christian College’s Primary School are welcomed by teachers who are dedicated to seeing them develop their character and academic potential. We do this by providing a strong pastoral support network around your child whilst fostering a love of learning that will see them right through their schooling years.
In Primary, emphasis is placed on developing strong numeracy and literacy skills. Your child will enjoy learning by ‘doing’ through an enquiry approach and being able to use their newly-learnt skills in relevant situations.
Our Primary School provides your child two separate areas to move through: Junior Primary (including Prep through to Years 1 – 3) and Upper Primary (Years 4 – 6).
YEARS 1 – 3:
Entering Year One is a very special event in the life of every child. As their formal education begins, Year One builds on the foundations already established in Prep. There is a strong emphasis to build on these introductory skills in literacy and numeracy through explicit instruction and building strong relationships.
In Year Two students begin to further explore the areas of mathematical thinking and their written and spoken English skills continue to be developed.
YEARS 4 – 6:
While we continue with our curriculum, in Upper Primary we also provide extra-curricular programs for our students. Their social and literacy development continues as their preparation for Secondary School begins.
Our students are encouraged to engage in language, camps, music, sport and performing arts programs. These combined with our literacy and numeracy programs help to develop them as a whole person. There is a focus on leadership and Christian character development and we encourage them to be examples to their fellow students in Junior Primary.
